These last few days have been full of ups and downs.
~ A few days ago, a friend of mine lost her 14 year old son. He was a very sweet boy. Maddy (One of Presley's best friends) is his little sister. It so sad to see his life cut so short. I am still dumbfounded...
I just look at my girls and hug them tight.
~ I got my refund from McDonald's for Presley's birthday party. They wanted to give me a free party at another facility......I told them no thanks and I want my money back. They called a few minutes later and told me it would be ready that evening. I don't even care about that now that I look back. I just had to stand my ground though or see it to the end. I just don't want them to think their idea of hosting birthday parties for families is acceptable.
~ We did the 5k Mayors Race on Saturday morning with the girls, my mom, Kim, and Nater. That was lots of fun. And later that night, we went to the Pasta Party to kick off the White Rock Marathon. They had a slide of honorees playing to music. And yep, John sat in the corner people watching while I had to sit across from him watching the slide show. I kept tearing up...and had to keep choking back tears. And at the party John was acknowledged for raising 10% more than his required amount of donations for the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society. There were quite a few that had done more than needed. Which is awesome! I hope the cure is soon found! And I know Lu would be soooo very proud. And we met a little 2 1/2 year old that has been diagnosed with Leukemia. She was one of the honorees. She was a cutie. Her daddy ran the marathon in honor of her.
~ After the pasta party, we headed home and Presley & I worked on "GO DADDY" signs. She idolizes her father. Watching her work on his sign was emotional too.... You'd think I were pregnant with uncontrollable raging hormones or something! But I am not.....so don't bother asking! Presley even wanted the TNT tattoos on each cheek. She's so adorable!
~ Sunday morning, we woke up before the crack of dawn for the 2nd day in a row. I wanted to drive John to the marathon so he wouldn't have to drive home. I know I wouldn't be able to drive after running 26.2 miles & I didn't want him to. We dropped him off and I took the girls to the store for some breakfast and we headed to one of the cheering areas right about mile 5 or so. We stood on the corner and waited for him. Presley and Juliet ate muffins & bananas, held up the "GO DADDY" sign and showed off her tattoos. When we saw him, Presley ran and jumped in his arms and then Piper started crying, so he ran with her a few feet. Then a quick hug and kiss and he was off again.
We tried to make it to the other cheering stations, but it was either too dangerous (busy streets & etc.) to get the girls out of the car or we would pass it on accident. So we just headed back to Victory Park and decided to wait for him there at the TNT Booth. After being in traffic in downtown for about 1 1/2 hours, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and follow a bunch of cars the wrong way down a one way street. I so did not care at that moment if I got a ticket. By that time I had two kids in the backseat in their car seats for going on nearly 6 hours...most of that time they were whining to get out. Anyways, I found my way back to Victory park, parked, and walk around until I found the booth that John would eventually have to go to to check out. And we stayed there!
About 3pm-ish, I think, John finished his race. He did it! All 26.2 miles of it! Wow!!!!!! I am so proud of him. He said that was one thing he could now mark off his "to-do" list. When the girls saw him, he sat on the ground and they pretty much dog piled him. Poor daddy!
So, on the way to the car, I started looking for the keys.........
I couldn't find them. I had lost them! I have NO idea where they are at. I wanted to cry like a baby soooooooooooooo bad! I felt horrible and like a complete dumb$@#. I drove John downtown so I could drive him and his very tired body home. BUT NOOOOOO.... we had to sit on the curb and search the stroller, pocket's, and every bag I had to find those keys. No luck! So I called uncle Robert in hopes he could open the car up for us and we'd find the keys inside. Then I called Stacey and Gabe and asked if they could go by the house and bring our spares on the way home from Frisco.
Uncle Robert, opened the car up for us! OH SO HAPPY! But still no keys. My car is clean now though. And Stacey brought us our spare set of keys. And off we were to go home.
~ So now that the marathon and John's training is over, we can focus on Christmas, shopping, family, Santa's letters, Holidays cards, baking, and all of that other good stuff. At least for the next couple of weeks anyways.
***I'll post pics later***
