WTH!

Last night I stayed up till way past one o'clock in the morning searching for homes. Welp, I focused mainly in the Carrollton area. I don't want to really live in Carrollton....schools are just okay. Neighborhoods could be better. But for some reason our realtor wants to keep showing us homes in Carrollton. So I picked out a few that I'd consider looking at last night. I figured since he's been selling homes out here for 30+ years, maybe he knows something we don't.

WELL....he may know something we don't, but he's not looking at things I am.

I was becoming physically ill last night researching the crime in these Carrollton neighborhoods. Then I decided to stop looking at the crime and just look to see where all the registered sex offenders were. I wanted to cry! I can't live anywhere without running into one out here! And to see the ages of the victims was heart wrenching! I am still nauseous.

They live near parks & schools. It's ridiculous!

RS stands for registered sex offenders. This is some of the Carrollton area. The area that we'd live in since the schools are suppose to be better in this area. Zip code 75007

This is zip code area 75010. The area were we have been looking at houses in Carrollton. The schools are lots better. But still look....3 registered sex offenders in this neighborhood. And there 2 schools and a park just blocks from where they live! If you can read the street names, we've looked at houses on Hearthstone, Greenstone, Falcon Ridge, Clearwater Trail, and Greenview.
We are suppose to look at a house on Camden Way tonight. We'd be surrounded by them. But I suppose that's better than living next door to them.

This one really disgusted me! We are to see a house on Chesterfield. There are sex offenders in both directions on that block (pretty much anyways). There is another house on Kensington Dr. that we are suppose to see too.

Just for reference....just found this out too. My neighborhood! I live on Farley Trail. There aren't any in my immediate neighborhood...but they are all in the neighborhoods around me! Not as safe as I thought I was!

And it looks like Plano even has it's share of whack jobs! The house we saw last night on Delmar has one on the next block and it also looks like there is one living in the park at the end of the block!

Okay.....back to being depressed........

And made a comment the other day that he doesn't want to live in an area that he knows for a fact that he WILL be going to jail for setting someone on fire.....on a regular basis!

Don't be too depressed as sick as it is. I noticed alot of sex offenders were Indecency with a minor than I'd find out the ages were like 16 or 17. Not good by any means but have you seen some of these girls? They look like college students at age 12...damn milk hormones! Now it says RS child was age 3 or younger, thats when I barf and worry.

I'm the same way. I always look to see if sex offenders live in the area before I look at a house. If there's even one, I won't even waste my time with the neighborhood. That map you posted was creepy. Ewww too many sex offenders! As for you real estate agent, hmmm why would he be pointing you in that direction? Maybe there are houses that need to be sold and he thinks he can get you to buy one? Okay, sorry I am always so suspicious of real estate agents (ha and I'm getting ready to take my licensing exam). I'm sure you already know this but be sure to get comps before you make an offer on a house. When we bought our first house, we didn't know that we could negotiate. We asked our agent if the house was priced right and she says," Oh yes, the owners will be coming out even." She should've told us that since the house had been on the market for over a year that we could get a better price but noooo she told us to offer full price. Big mistake. When we sold the house that nobody wanted, we lost money. We didn't know any better and did what she said. That was the last time an agent took advantage of use. I can't remember exactly but I think we were able to get this house for somewhere around 20-25 thousand less. Oh and look under carpets and furniture. Our first house had furniture in it with carpets everywhere. WEll we didn't inspect it properly and we ended up buying a house with mold under the areas that were hidden!

wow, jessica. cool. good luck with the exam. when do you take it?

our agent mostly deals with homes in this area...so i am sure he has a slew of them to sell and wants us to buy one. but we live here and are moving to get out of the nieghborhhod...not to stay.

the last house we went to see the other day was just about perfect...just out of our budget. the people that are selling it bought it as a foreclosure for $120,000 and are selling it for $175,000. They did make it look nicer...but no way did they do $55,000 worth of work to it. So we are having a hard time buying it for the listed price. the homes in that area are going from about that into the $200,000....but like i said...we'd feel so robbered knowing that they made so much money on us! I wished we could find a house that needed work like that & one that was in a GREAT neighborhood. Also when I go to see a house....I automatically look at the resale value! If for some reason we need to sale in a year, i want to know i can. john has made a list of homes that need a lot of elbow grease...maybe we can find a crappy house and make it a our little get-a-way.

how'd you get your house for so much less?

oh, jessica, do you have any tips for negotiating?
