A Penny For Your Thoughts....

That's what the doctor said when he walked into the examining room yesterday to examine Piper. The girl swallowed a coin. I still can't believe it! Seriously, I thought I'd never be one of those parents having to take my child in for that. When it happened, I was in a panic...like OMG! You should have seen her face when it happened too. She was in as much disbelief as I was. She kept saying, "Money mouth, Scout's money mouth".

John kept trying to convince me that it's normal for kids to swallow coins. He said he swallowed several in his early years. He even told me to call my mom and ask how many I swallowed. By the way, that would be none!

Here's what happened....
Presley shook her penny bank till she could get a coin to scratch off a sticker that came in her Highlight's magazine. Piper was right behind her catching coins that fell out too. Anyways, while Presley was with me scratching off the sticker, Piper was on the floor with John stretching and arching her back over him. The coins slipped out of her hands and into her mouth. I could see it as it happened but couldn't move fast enough to block the money........ I wished I would of had some kind of speedy super powers at that moment!

Anyways, I called the doctor and took her in to get an x-ray to make sure it safely arrived in her belly and would have a smooth journey back to the outside world. The doctor said there was only one coin and everything looks okay.

And Piper is doing fine today! She's keeping Presley's coin in a safe place for a couple of days.
Do you see the coin????

OH! I've swallowed coins, but my sister swallowed anything she could get her hands on...including rocks!

Scary! I would've freaked if that had happened to Dug...the only really bad thing that happened to him was when he was a baby, Jesse was holding him. He had the car keys in his hand (he had his keys held up high...I think he was looking for the car keys) and there was one sticking out...Dugs head fell forward, he had his mouth open and in the went the key...all the way to the back of this throat. He screamed and cried for the longest time. And he had a sore throat for a while...I am just so thankful it didn't tear his throat or poke an eye out!
